These pages are from my sketchbook started in 2013 of various things I was working on. Firstly I have some doodles and notes, some tinkering of my dimensional alchemist’s helmet/mask and an idea I had for a character for my second sunken world adventuring party. He’s an enemy of the Icthyss (fish-men) and their Thulhid overlords and has a fish-man skull, a weapon or two and scaled skin as trophies. The next page has some jolly Space Ork Freebooters as I felt like drawing them and some ideas for a race of smaller humanoids in the Sunken World. There’s also a fish-themed helmet for a sunken world bounty hunter.
Here we have my thief idea and more of the sea ranger/Icthyss hunter and then some ideas for a Thulhid’s experimental mutants and an elite armoured Icthyss.
Space Ork Freebooters are copyright Games Workshop, this is fan art and not intended to annoy GW.
As promised here’s the next character for my Sunken World adventuring party, a thief with concealed daggers, climbing rope, caltrops, throwing knives and reinforced leather armour disguised with the same pattern on the rest of her clothes.
I’ve finally got round to it to updating this website, I’m sorry it’s been so long!
I always have a few projects on the go; here are some more Sunken world images: a Sunken World character I created a couple of years ago; one of those images I needed a little bit of free time to finish off.
She’s a Raktos, (Raktos and Yrdin) a race of horn-headed humanoids who are rumoured to be half-demonic and they do little to dispel that rumour. Many of them do possess magical powers so I drew a couple of flames on her fingertips. She is accompanying the warrior who I posted a while back on my Facebook Page:
I’ve ideas for the rest of this adventuring group which I shall post next time.
Another beasty from my Sunken World – a flying-fishman commando (one of the many servants of the Thulhids) with various tools of his trade.
I’m working on a heck of a lot of things at the moment so apologies for no posts for the last couple of months. I thought I’d show you some sketches of a few of those ‘things’.
Some doodles from late last year:
Ideas for civilised beast-men and my whalephant design.
And from earlier this year:
SF beastmen (or Warhammer 40,000 Abhumans) and some Sunken World ‘Yrdin’ character ideas.
Some more Sunken World character ideas.
Also a return to my New Horizons characters from way back in 2006 (!). Just felt like seeing what had happened to them.
And some of the original designs.
This is an idea I had a while back after seeing the mimic octopus on a nature documentary ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimic_octopus ) for an experimental terror of the Sunken World – a shape-changing Thulhid assassin. These creatures are fortunately few in number; the product of the Thulhid scientists experimenting on their own kind.
Once an assassin has slain a human (or humanoid) and consumed their flesh it can change its form to be an identical copy of the unfortunate victim. I imagine it can only form crude-looking clothing though there is always the stolen clothing of the victim and perhaps other clothing can be acquired by their slaves or even Thulhid-worshippers.
More of my Triton culture; here we have a triton whalephant herder, a whalephant (amphibious elephant/whale creature) and a couple of other examples of Sunken World fauna.
Some drawings of the ogre/dugong/manatee-like creatures from my Sunken World who I call Tritons. They’re amphibious and larger and bulkier than a human. Their culture is tribal but they’ve united against the Thulhid menace.
Another page of characters from the Sunken World. These are slave guards who accompany the Gurgus (an amphibious race of fish-men bred to interact with humans; acting as merchants, ambassadors and slave traders). These creatures were inspired by blobfish (Psychrolutes Marcidus) and handfish (Brachionichthyidae ); I had previously doodled them in May 2011 with my Thulhid designs.
The humans and other races that the Thulhids prey upon are enslaved by having horrid magically-modified crustaceans attached to their necks that allow the Thulhids to control the host telepathically. The stress from this eventually means the host dies; so periodically the Thulhids and their fish-men servants need to acquire more slaves.
A couple of concepts for characters that move from port to port in the Sunken World plying their magical trade. The sea elemental is a variety of water elemental with added seaweed and kelp!
The druidess has summoned an air elemental and is accompanied by her monkey-cat familiar.
